A few thoughts about budgets
High quality user experiences are at the core of successful businesses. Creating these user experiences requires a thoughtful investment of capital, with an understanding that the investment will pay big dividends over time. But it is a strategic investment, not simply a commodity cost. And even though we strive to keep budgets efficient, the deep expertise and experience of our firm prohibits us from competing with cheaper budget-focused designers.
Advice for finding the right UX firm
Make a note of design firms that have demonstrated an ability to create successful user experiences, and then thoroughly research their approach to see if it fits well with your own needs. But please respect the amount of time and labor required to create a proposal — don't ask for proposals from firms unless you're sure they are a good fit for both you and your budget. Be honest and up-front about your budget range and schedule — it makes finding the right UX firm much more efficient.
